Sleep tracking ring maker Oura has hit past $20 million in funding after a new $5 million round led by Dell founder Michael Dell’s MSD Capital with participation from YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Sunrise founder Dave Morin alongside the co-founders of Skype, Box.com, JUMP Bikes, Freefly, Oak, Casper and Soylent and several leading sport figures.

Leading athletes who participated include Lance Armstrong, Shaquille O’Neil, Nick Foles, Earl Thomas III, Apolo Anton Ohno, Drew Bees, Jimmy Johnson and Manu Ginobili alongside star actor Will Smith, Chef David Chang and authors Sam Harris and Neil Strauss.

So far, Oura has developed a leading sleep improvement platform that provides sleep performance technology, tracking sleep habits using 2 infrared LEDs that take measurement of blood volume pulse directly from the finger’s palmar arteries, a 3D accelerometer and gyroscope that detect the direction of intensity and body movement and 3 NTC sensors that track temperature variation.

The Oura sleep tracking ring works with a companion app that help users improve sleep and align their lifestyle to their natural circadian rhythm, It provides personal guidance and feedback based on physiology and sleep habits.
