Waymo, the self-driving arm of tech giant Alphabet, and Italian automaker Fiat Chrysler have taken steps to expand a previously announced self-driving partnership between both companies. As made known by a recent press statement, Waymo will now work exclusively with Fiat Chrysler as the automaker’s preferred partner for the development and testing of commercial driverless vehicles. Under the extended partnership, Fiat Chrysler will exclusively adopt Waymo’s Level 4 self-driving technology for its own autonomous driving use.

Both companies are initially targeting the integration of Waymo’s self-driving tech on Fiat Chrysler’s Ram ProMaster commercial cargo van.

Fiat Chrysler has worked closely with Waymo since it became the company’s first OEM partner in 2016. Waymo still, however, works with other automotive partners including the likes of Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover.
