Beginning January this year, Apple launched new retail spots across the globe, spanning countries from Japan to Thailand, France and others. On the 26th of January, it opened its first official store in South Korea featuring 140 employees including 18 Koreans who worked in stores around the world before heading home.

Here are all the stores the company launched around the globe throughout this year:

  • Apple Garosugil in Seoul, South Korea – The company launched its first ever store in the country on the 26th of January to thousands of customers who braved sub-freezing temperatures to witness the event attended by Apple’s senior vice president of Retail Angela Ahrendts.

  • Apple Kärntner Straße in Austria – Shortly after a South Korea launch, Apple opened its first store in Austria on the 22nd of  February. It’s located on a famous pedestrian shopping street between St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Vienna State Opera, housing 150 employees who speak 44 languages.

  • Apple Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan – Apple opened doors for customers to experience an addition to its presence in Japan on the 7th of April. The new store features a 37 meter glass facade that connects it to the outside vibrant neighborhood, free Today at Apple sessions and a 6K video wall in the Forum that greets visitors. It houses 160 employees who joined the location from other Apple stores, including every store in Japan.

  • Apple Piazza Liberty in Milan, Italy – Apple opened a new retail store in Italy on the 26th of July, an event attended by thousands of customers, some of whom camped overnight and its senior vice president of Retail, Angela Ahrendts. The store features 230 employees who headed to Milan from Apple stores around the world.

  • Apple Kyoto in Japan – Apple launched another store in Japan, a country it now operates 9 stores in on the 25th of August. For the launch in the heart of Kyoto’s main shopping corridor, a line of customers stretched 10 blocks down Shijō Dori to visit Apple’s first store in the city which counts as a technical and cultural hub for Japan. The store houses 100 employees who come to Kyoto from around the world, speaking 12 languages.

  • Apple Iconsiam in Thailand – On November 10, The Apple Iconsiam opened in Bangkok with thousands of customers gathered to witness the company’s first store in Thailand. More than 100 employees welcomed customers to the store, who got a chance to get hands-on with Apple’s latest products, like the iPhone XR.

  • Apple Champs-Élysées in Paris – Apple welcomed customers to a new location in Champs-Élysées, a world famous shopping street known for its cafés, theaters and luxury shops on the 18th of November. This location features several environmental design elements and is powered by 100% renewable energy. It houses over 200 store employees who joined from other stores in Paris and is the last retail location Apple launched this year.
