As per a new report from Bloomberg, Uber is in early talks to acquire food delivery unicorn Deliveroo in a bid to boost its own delivery business with an acquisition price coming at several billion dollars for Deliveroo last valued at $2 billion in its most previous funding round.

This would mark a notable effort for Uber’s bid to dominate the European food delivery space and expand its global reach in the transportation services market.

Although no exact offered acquisition price has been disclosed, An acquisition for Deliveroo will likely come as considerably higher price than its most previous valuation as stated by people with direct source of Deliveroo’s plans as reported by Bloomberg.

Uber has taking on an expanded focus for its food delivery business as it aims for an IPO next year which would require boosting of its domination in the all-in-one transportation network industry spanning the field of ride-sharing, cab, taxi, food delivery and scooter and bike sharing among several other services.

This report notably comes just shortly after Uber was also reported to be aiming to acquire Dubai based ridesharing firm Careem in a deal which could value the firm at between $2 billion – $2.5 billion.

No official decison has been announced yet with Bloomberg also reporting of a possibility of a deal fallout as Deliveroo and its investors stay reluctant to give up its independence.

Deliveroo is one of Europe’s most notable and largest startups having grown to a $2 billion valuation with over $800 million raised and a very good-standing business spanning across 12 countries in a short 5 year span.
