Also today at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) where it previewed iOS 13 and its features, Apple has unveiled a completely redesigned Mac Pro and a new Pro Display XDR that’ll retail for $6,000 and $5,000 respectively. There’s also a separate $1,000 Pro Stand and $200 VESA Mount Adapter for the new Pro Display XDR.

Features of the new Mac Pro include:

  • Workstation-class Xeon processors (up to 28 cores).
  • 1.5TB capacity memory system.
  • 8 PCIe expansion slots (twice that of the previous Mac Pro).
  • Apple Afterburner, a new accelerator card that enables playback of 3 streams of 8K ProRes RAW video simultaneously.
  • Aluminum housing that lifts off for 360-degree access to the entire system.
  • 64 PCI Express lanes.
  • More than 300 Watts of power.
  • A graphics expansion kit that can bring about more than 500 Watts of power,
  • Handles for easy movement.
  • Six-channel memory architecture.
  • 12 physical DIMM slots.
  • Up to 56 teraflops of graphics performance.
  • Up to 128GB of video memory.
  • Support for up to six HDX cards.

The Pro Stand caters for rotation of the new Pro Display XDR between landscape and portrait modes

Features of the new Pro Display XDR include:

  • A 32-inch LCD panel (6016 x 3384 Retina 6K resolution).
  • P3 wide and 10-bit color display.
  • Direct backlighting system, with an array of LEDs that that produce 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and 1,600 nits of peak brightness.
  • 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
  • A thermal system that uses the display’s aluminum lattice pattern as a heat sink.
  • 9-millimeter edge-to-edge borders.
  • Can rotate into portrait mode.
  • Can connect to other devices in the Mac product line, including the new Mac Pro, via a single Thunderbolt 3 cable.

The separate $1,000 Pro Stand allows for tilt and height adjustment and rotation of the Pro Display XDR. The stand can be quickly attached and detached so it’s easy to move to and fro places. The separate $200 VESA mount adapter is interchangeable with the Pro Stand.
