Pinterest hires its first Chief Marketing Officer

Pinterest has hired Andréa Mallard from Gap Inc.’s Athleta as its first Chief Marketing Officer who will now oversee its global marketing and creative teams. The company made this announcement today confirming Mallard who has more than 20 years experience working with international, retail and customer service-focused companies taking up this role.

Prior to being Chief Marketing Officer at Athleta, Mallard spent 4 years as CMO of Omada Health and 8 years with design firm IDEO where she led the global brand strategy practice as a Design Director in the US and Europe.

“It was clear from my first conversation that this is a purpose-led company with the heart, mind, and values needed to become an iconic, global brand,” Mallard said in an official statement. “Pinterest inspires people everywhere to create a life they love. I believe it can be one of the truly positive corners of the internet and I’m excited about the great possibilities to come.”

Taking up this role, Mallard will report to Pinterest Chief Operating Officer Francoise Brougher and will be based at the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
